The Elite Health Baseline
The process begins with the Elite Health Evaluation. This 7-hour evaluation is an extremely thorough set of diagnostics that establishes your personal hormonal, metabolic, nutritional and physical baseline. We use the results to develop a personalized medical program designed to help you look and feel younger, while helping to put you in the lowest possible risk category for various diseases that are associated with the aging process.

Metabolic and Hormonal Assessment
An extensive panel of blood work assesses your hormonal and metabolic profile, from standard tests such as blood sugar and cholesterol, to an in depth evaluation of your hormonal status along with important cardiac and inflammatory markers. Studies show that as we age, there is a reduction in various hormonal and metabolic markers (thyroid, DHEA, testosterone, Vitamin D, etc). These declines are risk factors for a variety of diseases of aging, and are associated with premature death and disability. Keeping hormones at optimal levels is vital for optimal health, helping to reduce body fat, improve muscle tone, energy levels, cognitive ability and sexual function.
Carotid Intima Media Thickness (CIMT)
CIMT is an FDA-approved noninvasive, advanced ultrasound evaluation of the carotid arteries. This evaluation allows for detection of any existing plaque, and provides for a highly precise measurement of the thickness of the artery wall. Thickening of the artery wall is an early sign of developing vascular disease and is directly related to your risk of heart attack, not just stroke. Body Fat Analysis:
Your body composition is accurately determined using state of the art GE Lunar Prodigy. Other methods such as measuring fat folds, bio-impedance scales or hand held devices are very inaccurate. Tracking your progress is easy. Total and regional body fat, as well as muscle distribution are accurately determined. Increased body fat, especially abdominal fat, is associated with an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and even many cancers. Sarcopenia, or low muscle mass, is associated with an increased risk of physical disability including falls. Many people don’t look particularly overweight and may even have a normal BMI, but actually have an increased body fat and low muscle mass, often accompanied by osteopenia or osteoporosis. These “skinny fat” people are at particularly high risk for fractures.
Bone Density Testing
Osteopenia (low bone density) and osteoporosis (very low bone density) increase the risk of fractures. Low bone density is not just a woman’s problem. Many men have low bone density as well. While hip fractures are not as common in men, the mortality after a hip fracture is roughly 20% compared to 7.5% in women.
A computerized cognitive assessment, CNS Vital Signs, enables the evaluation of important brain functions including memory, processing speed, executive function and other vital brain processes. VO2 Testing is generally considered the best indicator of cardiovascular fitness and aerobic endurance. This test provides a baseline to track your cardiovascular fitness. Perhaps more importantly, it determines your optimal heart rate training zones. This information is used to make your cardio training more efficient for conditioning the heart and burning fat, accomplishing both in the least amount of time. Because everyone is different, using heart rate tables on exercise equipment as a guide can lead to over or under training. Strength Assessment rounds out the evaluation process and completes the baseline fitness assessment. The basic muscle groups are assessed for strength. Muscular endurance, core strength and balance are also measured. Like other facets of the Elite Health Evaluation, this provides a baseline for tracking progress.
Nutrition and Exercise Counseling
Most people are convinced they know how to eat right and they “just need to do it.” Patients often feel that as long as they aren’t eating “junk,” there is not much to change. This is usually far from reality. Your personal exercise and nutrition counselor will review your current eating habits, identify opportunities for improvement and develop a workable diet plan that can be incorporated into your busy lifestyle. The results of the fitness assessment are used to design an exercise program that will give you the best results while making efficient use of your valuable time.
Your Cenegenics® Beverly Hills physician Dr. Paul Campion, M.D. will spend approximately 2 hours with you to review your medical history, perform a physical examination, followed by a detailed review of all of your in house tests and lab work. The importance of the various results and rationale for proposed interventions is discussed in depth. Together, you and your physician will develop an ongoing plan that makes sense for you.
You have unlimited access to your physician, exercise/nutrition counselor and service coordinator. Follow up blood work is done quarterly and reviewed with you in detail to keep close tabs on your progress. Patients are encouraged to come in for follow up scanning and review of their lab testing if it is convenient for them. If distance is an issue, follow ups can be done via phone. Your exercise/nutrition counselor maintains frequent contact with you to help keep you on the beam. An annual evaluation is performed to assess your progress and help you refocus so you can take your program to the next level.
